The other day designer Bridget Kelly was asked what’s hot in the Bay Area nurseries – and we’d thought we’d share the answer with our readers!

Bay Area parents are keeping it classy spring of 2013 in the nursery department, pairing pale and neutral colors with well designed items. Fun quilts with animals and letters are popular, the baby’s name or the entire alphabet on the product is a big hit!

Just like San Francisco is the heart of the Bay Area – so are its bridges, nature and views that lead up to it. The San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate bridge, Yosemite and all its creatures – it’s all under the California sunshine and we Bay Area folks are doing our best to represent it in the nurseries!

Ride bikes around town – take time to decorate helmets together with your child, who will be safe and cute on their bike!

Prepare food in the backyard (if the weather allows it) – our favorite is Pico de Gallo, super easy to make and the perfect snack. Pair it with tortilla chips!

But most importantly   

Did you know that the word February comes from the word “februa” – which means cleansing and purification, and reflect on the rituals undertaken before Spring? Yay to purification and almost Spring time!

The past couple of weeks at The Little Acorn have been truly amazing. Designer Bridget Kelly is drawing, coloring and creating with true spirit at heart for all our little ones out there. February will continue to be a beautiful month here at The Little Acorn – filled with new ideas, new weather and more love. May the love be with you, young Padawans (Star Wars reference in case you yet have not seen the greatest movies of all time made in the late 70s/early 80s!!).

Yes, it’s true – Valentine’s Day is finally around the corner! Make sure to pamper your toddler date on the 14th, as well as yourself!

Spend time in the kitchen making sweets, or time at the table making witty cards (“Owl be your best friend forever!”) for people who have a special place in your heart.

Gather your loved little ones and have a bonding talk about love, friends and why we celebrate Valentine’s Day. Example Qs:
